Jamaica is a unique place with a mystique and allure unlike any other Caribbean Island. Jamaica vacations are popular for people from all over the world who want to experience the culture and lifestyle or at least what they believe those things to be.

Travel to Jamaica is a wonderful way to enjoy a vacation and each year more and more people visit “The Land of Woods and Water” for some fun in the sun. Jamaica is unique in many ways and the popular idea of a laid back “No Problem Mon” attitude for everyone can lead to issues for some visitors.

In order to help make your vacation a little nicer we are going to list a number of top tips and advice for Jamaica vacations for anyone from a first time visitor to a long time friend.

Tip #1

Bring your camera and use it wisely

Everyone loves a vacation but often times many of us are having so much fun we neglect to record it on film or camera and as time passes so do those wonderful memories. A digital camera with enough batteries and memory cards to cover you time here can help create and maintain a lifetime of good memories but be careful. Everyone may like looking at your pictures of Jamaica but not every Jamaican wants their photo taken. Be kind and ask before taking photos of people in public. Be polite and honest and you should have no problem but on occasion you will find someone who is adamant you not take their photo and its just better to ask then offend.

Tip #2

Plan your trip before you arrive and verify everything

Jamaica is a great place for a spur of the moment vacation and you can easily visit the island with little or no planning at all but in order to best enjoy your Jamaican vacation we suggest you lay out some basic plans for how to spend your time along with the more important things to do in any for of itinerary you think you need. You do not have to over plan your vacation but it is certainly wise to organize some aspects including accommodations, transportation and tours. Things change often in Jamaica and the wonderful bed and breakfast you stayed at on your first visit may not be the same place it was just 2 years later. Proper planning can help avoid these type of disappointments and make for a better vacation experience. Some of us get so into the laid back lifestyle we never leave the hotel and we end up not doing half the stuff we wanted to and that leads to regrets and hopefully more trips but a little planning and you can make your tours blend into your airport transfers and make the most of your time in Jamaica.

Tip #3

When in Jamaica, do as Jamaicans do!

Everyone has their idea of the perfect vacation and we would never judge your vacation preferences but many visitors to Jamaica miss out on the wonderful cultural experiences of the “Real Jamaica” outside the walls of the all inclusive resorts and far away from the “Fake Jamaica” some of these places offer. There is nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy the beautiful facilities of these walled fortresses but take a day or two to enjoy life outside the compound. Book a tour with a local Jamaican or drop into a local Jamaican restaurant and dine like Jamaicans do. The real beauty of Jamaica can only be found by living Jamaican.

Tip #4

Respect yourself and others, mon

A vacation is often a well deserved break we give ourselves each year and sometimes some of us take the well deserved part a little too serious. Some people come to Jamaica with the idea that someone owes them something. These people act as if the world is theirs and the people around them are there to do whatever ridiculous request they can come up with because “I’m on vacation”. It’s an attitude like that which will lead to a horrible vacation. treating people like slaves in a country with such a horrible history of slavery won’t get you very far no matter what you paid them.

Tip #5

Buy Jamaican Build Jamaica

Jamaica is a part of what was once called the Third World. The politically correct phrase is developing nation these days but the harsh reality of the economic conditions make it feel like another world in many ways. Jamaica is a beautiful country with a wealth of natural resources and beauty but things are not good for the average Jamaican. Tourism is the driving force in the Jamaican economy but very few Jamaicans own the large prosperous hotels and resorts. most Jamaicans work for the tourism industry as drivers, maids, servants and entertainment staff and hospitality jobs are about the only legal way any Jamaican has to make money on the tourist that arrive here. If you have the opportunity to do so we suggest you travel to Jamaica and live with Jamaicans. Find a local resort or hotel that is Jamaican owned and spend your money with a business that will keep that money in country.

When you are in Jamaica take a chance and spend some time with Jamaican people and spend your money in local craft markets restaurants whenever possible so that your valued tourist dollars make it into the community at large. Jamaicans will appreciate it and build a better Jamaica.

There are a slew of other tips and advice one can take with them on their Jamaica vacation but these five will make it a great vacation for you and Jamaica.

Oh sure! A vacation? In this economy? How can you afford to just go gallivanting off into the sunset, spending every penny of your precious stockpile of money? After all, you dont know what the future brings, and you dont want to be caught between jobs and also having no money in the bank because you spent it all on a vacation!

The truth is that vacationing has just gotten smarter and cheaper! Thats right; you can now afford that dream trip youve always wanted. Im sure that you never imagined you could ever get to New Orleans, San Antonio or Montana, much less Africa, Ireland or Central Europe! Well, now is the time to cash in on some great savings on vacations and not break your bank.

You dont have to go through a travel agency, and you dont need to know anyone on the insider to tap into super savings. What you do need to do is join a travel club. Theyve found a way to pull resources together and purchase vacation packages and service in bulk! They have turned that around and are now offering these cost savings back to you. Thats right, just like youd go to your wholesale warehouse to buy bulk groceries, you can now do the same thing but with vacations! I did a simple cost comparison looking just at flights.

What I did was put in the same dates, same amount of travelers and same departure and arrival points. I then went to the four options you have to book travel online. You have membership sites, Aggregator sites, and traditional sites such as Orbitz and then you always have the airline sites.

While I imagined that there would be a difference in price, I wasnt prepared for the drastic difference. The membership site airline flight, which would be the wholesale price was $260. The Aggregator sites offered the same flight for $300 – $600. The reason for the difference in price with the Aggregator site is because those sites go and pull from a number of sites offering that flight. The traditional site, which I used Orbitz offered the same flight for $301. Finally the airline, looking at the same airline I picked on the other sites offered the flight for $401.

So you save anywhere from $40 – $340 per flight. If you have a family of four that saves you $160 – $1360, this makes a family vacation even more plausible even in touchy economic times. Now you can take that Safari Trip you never imagined you could take. You can go on week-end cruises at ridiculously cheap prices, and most dream trips within the United States are simply too cheap to even list. You really have to see some of the prices to believe them.

A vacation is no longer just a luxury, it is a necessity. You need it for your sanity and health. You and your family need a vacation to reconnect and bond again. Forget the staycation, go on a vacation, and go for less then what you thought.

A lot of people believe that travel is an essential part of any childs education, and quite rightly so. But how often have you heard the parents complain about how cumbersome their kids have been to them when they have taken them out. It is not that parents dont want to travel with their children but on the contrary parents love to be in the company of their children. It is just that children do give them trouble and try their patience while traveling. But here we can try to solve some of your problem with these tips to make traveling with kids an enjoyable and fun experience.

A good way is to involve the kids in planning the vacation. Ask them for inputs allow them to pick out places that they would like to visit. Give them complete details about the place that they are going to visit and what all will they see. This way you will find that your children are more cooperative even in visiting places like the museum.

Another cool trick to get kids more helpful around you in the house is to give them money to do the chores. You can tell them they can save this money to spend on the trip. You will be amazed at how energetically your kids do the chores. This also makes them look forward to the trip with more interest.

Another way that you can prepare your children for your upcoming vacation is to buy them one or two books so that they can read up on the location where youre traveling to. The more that they know about the area where youll be visiting the more they can plan what they want to do on the vacation.

In case you are going to a foreign place with a foreign language you can start to teach your children the language. It is not only educational but also gets them very excited and interested. Start with simple greetings such as thank you and good morning etc.

One or two weeks before the launching of your vacation you can buy your children their own backpack to take onto the plane or into the car with them. Allow them to have a choice in what goes into their pack and allow them to take things that will keep them busy on the plane or in the car. This can include books, music, paper and pens, and travel games.

Older children may be past the toy stage, put a travel journal can be a great opportunity for them to write down details about the trip. Choose the type of journal that lets the child add pictures and other important mementos from the trip – theyll create a scrapbook that they can enjoy for years to come.

Another option to consider is purchasing inexpensive cameras for your children (provided they are old enough to take pictures). There are many reasonably priced cameras, including disposable cameras that let the kids decided what events are important to them and what pictures theyd like to take. Dont nag your kids about taking pictures, if they see something they like they will take a picture. The point is to help them have fun memories of the trip later.

When youre booking your vacation make sure that you book your rooms in hotels that accommodate families with children. If you can arrange to stay in places where there is a pool it will be an added bonus. A pool is a great way for you and your children to unwind at the end of long day of traveling and sightseeing.

Traveling with kids can be either a pain or pleasure depending on how you approach it. Kids will be kids they are very active and need to be entertained. With the above tips hopefully you will be able to have a great trip with your children/pbr
br
With vacation season in full force, you may be planning a getaway of your own. Once youve figured out where youre going, you have to decide on how to get there. Some places require traveling by air; its the only way to get there, so the decision is an easy one. If its a location to which you can drive, however, youre faced with a choice: should you drive, or should you fly?
Everyone has preferences for modes of travel, of course. For many, flight is the preferred option. From a certain perspective, it makes perfect sense?you spend less time getting there so you can spend more time being there.
Traveling by car takes time. It wont have you kicking back on the beach or relaxing in the mountains ASAP There are stops for fuel, stops for bathroom breaks, stops to eat or stretch your legs. Theres the potential of getting lost, of taking the wrong turn and having to repeatedly peruse a road atlas to find your way?of having to backtrack, grumbling all the while because youve gone twenty miles out of your way.
On a road trip, there are fuel expenses. There is wear and tear on the car, and the ever-dreaded possibility that it may break down and need repairs along the way. If youre traveling with others, a drive can entail close contact with those people for extended periods of time. Whether youre alone or have company, it will definitely entail being largely confined to a small space for the duration of the drive.
Given all this, you may ask: why would anyone choose to drive? Why would anybody embarking on a vacation opt to spend one or more days driving, when it would be so much easier, quicker, and more convenient to just book a flight?
The fact is, theres something special about taking a long trip by car. It has nothing to do with efficiency, or getting to where youre going as quickly as possible. It has to do with viewing your vacation as an adventure, a journey?and appreciating the whole journey, including the process of getting there.
When you travel by airplane, you step into a metal compartment. Within an hour or two, presto! You simply step back out in a different place, usually none the worse for wear and in the same state of mind, more or less, as when you stepped on. For all intents and purposes, you might as well have been transported between places, much like in the old science fiction movies or television shows.
By contrast, when you travel by car, theres a sense of having moved through space, of having gone somewhere. Sure, there was a starting point and an ending point, just as in air travel?but theres a keen awareness of having traversed the miles. You were there for every one of them.
All those places you might have peered at from your window seat in an airplane? You were there. You saw the roll of the land, and the shadows cast on them by the sun. They werent just crosshatched impressions of fields and cities, unimaginably distant. They were fields and cities: up-close, personal, and real.
For some people, the old adage, Its not about the destination, but about the journey still rings true. If youre one of these people?and you happen to be planning a vacation?driving is still the only way to go./pbr
