There are ways to save money traveling, but you need to be a smart traveler. In order to travel cheap, you need to plan in advance and seize the opportunity when you find a great deal. Here are five tips to give you a head start.
1. When you are searching for your airfare tickets, there are two things you can do to possibly save money. First, you can check to see if purchasing two one-way tickets will be cheaper than buying a round-trip ticket. For example, if you are planning a trip from Orlando, Florida to San Francisco, California, check the prices on tickets from Orlando to San Francisco one way and then San Francisco to Orlando one way. It just might be less money rather than buying one round trip ticket. the other way you can save money on your airfare is to check the neighboring cities and see it at you can buy a ticket from those airports rather than the main airport you normally use. Youd be surprised how much cheaper the flights might be at a smaller or neighboring airport.
2. If youre planning to stay for an extended amount of time at your vacation destination, you might think about renting a condo or an apartment for a month or two. This could save you a substantial amount even compared with the cheap budget hotels, and it will be a lot nicer place to stay and you will be able to travel cheap and use that money for something else on your trip.
3. Plan your vacation to a city or country where you can do a lot in a small area. This will save you money on gas and time. For example, pick a city that has great shopping, theme parks if you like those, maybe a beach or lakes, and plenty of museums and festivals. If you find such a place, stay for a while!
4. If your hotel has a kitchenette, have some of your lighter meals and snacks in there instead of eating out for every meal. If you are going to a theme park you can take in a backpack with some snacks and bottled water. The cost of these small snacks and beverages really adds up throughout the day. Youll be surprised how much cash you can save by using this tip.
5. And last but not least, travel in the off season. This is a great way to travel cheap and also avoid the crowds during the peak travel seasons. Do some research online to find out when the best time to go would be.
