With its physical similarity to the iPhone, the new iPod Touch creates an expectancy of iPhone versatility in consumers while lacking iPhone features, for example camera and Bluetooth. And it doesn’t compare to normal iPods – offering only 10% of the capacity of the iPod Classic. Despite offering web access thru a special version of Safari, email is conspicuously absent.

Having asserted this, one of the primary advantages of the iPod Touch is Apple’s revolutionary new multi-touch user interface. The device features only 2 controls, the sleep / power switch and a Home button. All of the features are accessed via the multi-touch screen.

The multi-touch interface starts with a single touch on the power button to turn the device on and take you to its “Home ” screen. Select applications and settings with a touch of your finger, or push the Home button to revisit the primary screen. Touch an input box to open a touch delicate keyboard. Touch to select items in a list. Touch a slide control to adjust a value.

Sort your music thru brand, artist, playlist or album and flick thru them using the iPod Touch coverflow feature

When viewing photographs on your iPod Touch, you can flick through them using coverflow. A photograph that was taken in landscape mode can be viewed full screen simply by turning your iPod horizontally. To zoom in on detail simply “pinch ” the section of the photo you would like to zoom in on and slowly draw your fingers apart. To revisit the original view simply tap the screen.

To view video on your iPod Touch, simply touch the video button at the base of the home screen and decide on the video you would like to watch. Then turn the screen horizontally to watch in full screen mode on the 3.5 ” screen that has got a resolution of 480-by-320, with 163 pixels per in.. Stills and videos display superbly on this screen in clear, pointed pictures.

The versatility of the iPod touch is bound to inspire your mates the 1st time you demonstrate it to them. You may expect gasps of surprise from people who have never seen it before.

The iPod Touch features a couple of applications including the Safari net browser, YouTube, a calendar, a contact list, a clock, a calculator and more.

There are so many things you can store on your iPod Touch too – including, music, videos, photos & podcasts. You can even download content directly from iTunes if you’ve a WI fi connection. Apple has even made an arrangement with Starbucks that allows you to access a WI fi connection in Starbucks stores without connection fees or login requirement.

Is the iPod Touch for you? Well, if you already own an iPhone there is not any need to buy an iPod Touch as the iPhone includes all the same features plus plenty more. But if you want lots of the features of the iPhone without having your music disrupted by the ringing of your phone or without that pesky 2 year contract with ATT then the iPod Touch is definitely the way to go!

The iPod Touch will cost you US$299 for the 8GB model, or US$399 for the 16GB version.

Outdoorsmen who love coffee don’t need to suffer thru rancid pre-packaged instant coffee while out on camping trips. Modern technology has produced a wide variety of coffee-making apparatus that’s light-weight and straightforward to pack, no matter where you’re going. A manual coffee grinder is a necessity if you’re going to make a great cup of coffee. Hand operated coffee grinders are sometimes light-weight, collapsible, and don’t need electricity, which makes them the ideal convenient travel accessories. Travel.
coffee grinder review
Thanks to these devices, enjoying outside no longer goes hand in hand with drinking bad coffee. These grinders will provide you a unceasing supply of ground beans to give you a constant supply of fresh, tasty coffee. Added to that, they’re fairly priced which is another good reason to believe they’re worth packing and carrying around on your camping trips.

there are several good brands, including EGH’s Flip-top Wood and Acrylic Grinder, which is smaller than a piece of legal paper and can be acquired online for a little less than $30. Another compact grinder that is’s well-suited to out of doors use is the metal Danesco Manual Coffee Grinder. And it costs less than $50, which is kind of reasonable for such a solid small item. You might need to try the Gemco Coffee Mill. This tiny grinder is under six inches high and about 4 inches in diameter, and can make as many as six cups of coffee at a time.

When you increase any of these coffee grinders against other coffee-making devices like the French press or a traditional percolator, you will come away knowing you have got a handy tiny piece of kit. And of course you can always cook your coffee beans the old-fashioned way, over an open fire under a blanket of stars, as you and your fellow campers tell campfire stories. If you don’t have a fire at your campsite, a propane stove will accomplish the job.

Compact hand coffee grinders have made off instant coffee a thing of the past on camping trips, as they give you the constant, easy option of a good cup of coffee.

Budget travel is the buzz phrase when it comes to planning a vacation today. There are so many ways to actually fit your budget rather than the other way around, and yet some people still have no idea where to begin. What is needed is a frame of reference and this quick guide to budget travel should help you to plan the trip of your dreams for as low a cost as possible.

The purpose behind budget travel is to have the best possible experience and saving money at the same time. This must be done without sacrificing the quality of your travel experience. Many travellers make a game of this and set targets for spending as little as possible for maximum fun and adventure.

The first thing to consider for budget travel is your choice of transportation. Often, the way you travel can account for up to 70% of your total vacation cost. Budget travel forces one to examine the options carefully.

Travelling by car can save you money if the journey is relatively short, but a cross-country jag can really get expensive when one considers the ever fluctuating cost of gas. RV travel can be very enjoyable, especially for families, but cheap it’s not when one figures in gas, campground fees, sewage hook-ups etc.
RV travel does bring the many of comforts of home, but at a price. Train Travel is a tremendous bargain and a good choice for those interested in budget travel. Train ticket prices have been greatly discounted to attract more customers. Bus travel can also be a good choice for the budget minded.

An extended stay in one location is another good strategy for budget travel. Using one spot as a home base and traveling to points of interest as day trips can be a lot of fun, offer diverse though related experiences and you can actually save a lot of money by renting an apartment or extended stay accommodation. All this and a central spot that feels like home and is familiar place to rest your head after the day’s adventure.

If you have reached senior citizen status, there are numerous discounts available, so be sure to ask. The internet is loaded with discount coupons for entertainment, meals, and more. Many individuals overlook this sort of travel tip and rely on haggling and that’s fine too, but coupons can often gain you an equivalent discount without the need to open your mouth. Let’s not forget the various travel websites like Travelocity, Priceline, etc. they too can be excellent sources for budget travel opportunities. Some budget minded folks build their entire vacation around the cheap airfare and accommodations they find on those websites.

As you can see there are a number of methods to achieve substantial discounts and great rates for budget travel. So go on out and have a wonderful travel adventure and have fun saving money at the same time!

If you are travelling abroad, you should take out travel health or medical insurance to help you cover your medical expenses in case of an emergency abroad. Note that medical costs and hospital care abroad can be steep and US-issued policies are generally not accepted outside the US. Medicaid and Medicare programs also do not provide coverage for medical or hospital expenses incurred outside the US.

This type of short-term insurance policy is specifically designed to provide temporary medical coverage for periods as short as five days to as long as a year, and is renewable for two to three years. Major medical insurance policies are also available for those who are travelling abroad for longer periods of time such as six months to a year. Apart from medical care, travel insurance also covers evacuation, accidental death, trip interruption and limited baggage. If you have a major medical policy, however, you have more comprehensive coverage that includes prescription drugs and wellness care.

The types of travel insurance that you can avail of include comprehensive, emergency and medical evacuation. Comprehensive temporary insurance is for those who have no insurance at all, even at home, because they’re between jobs or living and working overseas. Emergency health insurance, on the other hand, is for those who do have coverage but need a supplemental policy to cover the costs of emergency medical care abroad that are not included in their regular policies. If you are so badly hurt that you cannot travel on a regular commercial flight, a medical evacuation (medevac) policy will pay for costs such as an air ambulance and doctors’ and nurses’ fees; however, hazardous activities such as bungee jumping or extreme sports may be excluded from coverage. Other kinds of travel insurance cover the costs of trip cancellation for any reason, including illness and injury of the insured, a travelling companion or an immediate family member, and theft or damage of a vehicle that you have rented.

You can get travel insurance from some travel agencies or suppliers, who include coverage as part of the cost of the ticket. Your regular health insurance provider may also be able to provide you with a supplemental policy that includes travel insurance. There are also providers, such as travel insurance companies and direct providers of medical evacuation and emergency services, who specialize in this type of policy.

To find the best travel insurance, make sure that you are clear on exactly what coverage you need to prevent you from paying extra for something that you will not use. Then do a general search of the different short-term insurance providers and then compare quotes. But when you are asking for quotes, avoid giving out any personal information that is not directly related to your trip in order to avoid getting scammed. Apart from the quotes, also look at just what the extent of the coverage each company provides will be, particularly if you are bringing along expensive electronic devices such as a laptop or camera; make sure that the plan either reimburses the loss of these or that you can specify that you want them covered.

Golf–it’s been called the ultimate travelers’ sport. More than 17 million people hit the links while they are away on vacation or a business trip. While Arizona, Hawaii and California are typically known for their expansive, breathtaking greens, there are many top-rated courses that can be found in the most unexpected of places.

According to travel expert and Travel Channel host Tracy Gallagher, “It’s all in the research. Before taking a trip-whether traveling on a family vacation, for a weekend getaway or on business–a great nearby golf course can easily be found with a little advance planning.”

So why not hit the links the next time you hit the road? Some of Gallagher’s favorite U.S. golfing destinations may surprise you.

• Albuquerque, N.M.-With spectacular scenery and desert climate, Albuquerque is a superb place to golf. In fact, over the past few years, developers have capitalized on the area’s beauty and, as a result, many new courses have opened throughout the city.

• Washington, D.C.-For a stroke of something different, try golfing in our nation’s capital. One wouldn’t think there would be room for a golf course in the immediate 68-square-mile area of Washington, D.C.; however, the proximity of some of the courses to the downtown area makes golfing an easy addition to a sightseeing trip. In fact, you can even see many of the historic monuments from several of the nearby fairways.

• Portland, Ore.-The Pacific Northwest certainly doesn’t have typical golfing weather, but the frequent showers give the golf greens a shade of emerald you won’t find anywhere else. If Oregon is on your travel itinerary, be sure to check out the courses in the Portland area.

Whether heading to the West Coast, Midwest, Deep South or the Eastern Seaboard, keep the following in mind as you plan your next trip:

• Check with local courses–many offer a special family package rate.

• For a more affordable golfing experience, check prices for playing at “twilight.”

• If you can’t get a tee time at one of the courses near your destination, many of the locations have driving ranges so you can at least practice your swing.

• Look for hotels, such as the Hilton Garden Inn, that offer a golf package. “Golf Amenity #18″ is the largest golf promotion available at Hilton Garden Inn hotels throughout North America, which offers guests whose stay includes a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday night, from June 1-Oct. 22, 2006, a complimentary green fees voucher (good for two people) that’s valid at more than 330 golf courses in the U.S. and Canada. Guests also receive a complimentary golf tips booklet, written by Golf Digest instructors, filled with pointers to improve your game. It’s a one-of-a-kind deal that travelers-both business and leisure-can take advantage of this summer.

It’s actually a pretty good question. Why should you go backpacking in Australia, the strange and deserted country far away from anywhere else? Being solely known for kangaroos, the boomerang and a nut head chasing crocs, Australia doesn’t give a good first impression. And apart from that, it’s probably the most dangerous place on this planet. We are talking about the world leading country in venomous spiders, hungry sharks, and deadly snakes. In fact, of the ten most dangerous snakes in the world, Australia has the lot. So why would you travel to such a horrific place?

The answer is simple; Australia is a backpacker’s paradise. Being equally wonderful ands unique, Australia give you the opportunity to dive the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, experience the surfer lifestyle and survive a night in the outback. Australia has everything a backpacker could ever look for, and the hostels are packed with like-minded backpackers year-around.

Australian lifestyle:
Australia is often referred to as “The country of long weekends.” The relaxed and laidback Aussie way of living is a dream comes true for every backpacker. The only place in the world where ordering a Big Mac would take you about a half hour.

A country where people would not look twice if you got married in boardshorts or came to a business meeting in slippers. The people are actually so lazy that their spoken language make “sms speech” look like an easy read.

“No worries mate, I’ll chuck a snag on the barbie!!”

Travel to unique destinations:
Backpacking Australia gives you an unique opportunity to see spectacular wonders of nature that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The mesmerizing colour of the Uluru’s rock, the breathtaking coastline of Great Ocean Road and the wondrous mysteries of The Great barrier reef are just a few of the trips Australia can offer. It might look astonishing on photos, but it can only be truly experienced in real life, accompanied by thousands of japanese tourists.

Meet the weirdos:
The mystical country down under is also home to quite a bunch of weirdos. We are talking about the country that took the concept of Lassie and thought; “Hmm, we could do the same with a kangaroo.” The greatest nut head of them all, Steve Irwin, is another Australian hero that has dominated the nature channels the last decade with his crocs and “Crikeys!” After his sudden and sadly passing in 2008, Steve Irwin’s passion and spirit can only truly be experienced in his lifework: The Australian Zoo. The zoo is still driven by his family, and has kept its atmosphere, unique to any other zoo in the world.

So how do I get down there?
When should I go?
Where should I go?
How much money do I need?
Should I travel with car or train?
Who should I travel with?
“…”

All of these questions are important, and need to be faced sooner or later, but guess what; NOT NOW! Planning a trip to Australia isn’t done over night, and the biggest mistake you can make is to start with the problems. When you travel around Australia, you will find there is one thing in common between all the overseas travelers. They all had a real desire to go there.

Before you can face the big tasks, you need to build up a desire to go there. Why do you want to travel there? Do you want to live the surfer lifestyle? Do you want to do a 16,000 feet skydive in Cairns? Do you want to live the cowboy lifestyle on a farm, miles from anywhere else? Read books, and articles reviewing Australia attractions and let them inspire you.

Find the one thing you are passionate about doing, get excited and even the hardest obstacles will come easy to you, while planning your trip to the equally mysterious and wonderful country down under.

Travel Insurance is essential, and everybody should take a look at it, before hitting the road. The right insurance can easily spell the difference between a bargain flight and a financial disaster. On the other hand, many people buy insurance, which they do not need at all. Or, they buy insurance coverage which they already have through their credit card.

There are three general types of travel insurance

Health related insurances covering the risk of sickness or an accident on the road
Luggage insurance
Insurance covering change or cancellation penalties
I want to make a few points for each category.

Travel Health Insurance

People need coverage of medical expenses at home. On the road you need it even more. The first step before buying special health coverage for your trip is a check of the policy of your existing health insurance. On the road you need treatment costs, including expenses for hospitals, and transport back home, to be covered. Very helpful is an emergency phone number, where you can reach somebody familiar with the country you are in. He may know the right doctors, have an idea which hospitals are good, and have a relationship with them allowing for treatment without the need to pay the hospital before you are admitted.

But please check the fine print. Mental illnesses are almost always excluded from coverage. If you have an address in the country you visit, or if you are a citizen of the country you visit, coverage via travel insurance may also be declined.

Luggage Insurance

This type of travel insurance is straightforward. If your luggage gets damaged or lost during your trip, you will be refunded. But check the fine print for excluded items. Expensive gear, like computers, cameras, jewelry and obviously cash are often excluded. There may be also provisions that you cannot leave expensive items in a car, or that some things need to be kept in a safe.

Insurance Covering Change Fees

A classic form of travel insurance covers the costs of changing or canceling a trip for specific reasons. The triggers may include sickness, pregnancy, death of a family member, unexpected unemployment and more. Check the policy of any insurance for these triggers, because they are not always the same.

Before insuring against a change penalty you need to have a hard look, whether it is really helpful. The trick is that insurance premiums are determined by the price you pay for your ticket or vacation package. But, on the other hand, penalties for changing or canceling a ticket are generally lower for higher priced flights and packages. This means, if you do not take care, you may pay 50 Dollars to cover a risk of 120 Dollars in case you need to cancel or change your plan. This does not make sense.

But it is also possible that a policy of no change and no refund allowed is connected to your ticket. In this case, you may lose the whole price you paid for your package, if you become at travel time. Under such rules travel insurance covering change and cancel penalties definitively makes sense
